PAASL Coordinator
Responsibilities
Thanks for considering to volunteer to be a team coordinator! We've made it
easy for you to give a small amount of your time to help ensure the league operates
in a smooth and organized fashion by designing a lightweight set of duties,
with easy access to League organizers when you need assistance. If selected,
some of the duties you'll take responsibility for are:
- Making contact with each member of your roster to inform them of game times
and locations. We have a robust website [http://www.paasl.org]
which contains most, if not all the information you'll need to administer
your team. Also, the vast majority of registrants have e-mail!
- Ensure players have passes and stickers.
- Ensure each member of your roster has a copy or access to the team roster,
game and refreshment schedule.
- Distribute team supplies (jersies, socks, etc.).
- Ensure a line-up card with jersey numbers is ready and given to the official
at game time.
- Ensure the first aid kit is at each game.
- If you are home team (listed first, green jersey) for the first or last
game of the day on a field, your team is responsible for putting up/taking
down the corner flags, which are all kept at the JLS fields (nets are permanently
fastened to the goals effective Summer, 2005).
- Gain commitment from a team member to carry out your weekly duties in the
event you are going to be absent.
- At the end of each game, request those in attendance to help collect any
litter that is left behind.
- Last, the coordinator serves as a representative of the league, and is
requested to assist the league in supporting league principles such as:
- It is a recreational league (hard tackles, red cards are frowned upon)
and standings are intentionally not kept.
- Substitutions should occur so all players get roughly equal time on
the field. Rostered players should always get preference over 'ringers'.
- Help the team respect the officials decisions. They are in charge of
the game. No exceptions. Support the officials efforts to squelch any
rare inter-player or inter-team friction.
Again, thank you for volunteering to be a team coordinator. It's not a big
job, but it helps us maintain the quality of the PAASL experience. Please let
the league know if your interest when your are registering. Volunteers make
the league possible!
